Tourism and Recreation

These proposed draft policies are in development and are not a consideration when in drafting applications or making a decision. You can comment on these policies through our online questionnaire and workshops.

Tourism and recreation activities are recognised as important contributors to local economies and as sources of income for coastal communities. The recreational boating industry alone has been estimated to contribute £1.042 billion to the UK economy.

Tourism and recreation also provides many social benefits for communities such as improved health (mental and physical) and wellbeing, greater social cohesion and it creates jobs.
