Proposals demonstrating enhanced public access to and within the marine area will be supported.
- Proposals should show how they will enhance public access, such as removing unsuitable existing access and the provision of replacement access arrangements are to be provided.
- Any alternative access (including temporary and cumulative impacts) needs to be appropriate for the setting, including potential impacts on biodiversity, heritage assets, seascape, access and use for recreation and tourism.
- Where relevant, early engagement with land owners and other relevant parties is strongly recommended.
- Proposals must assess postive and negative impacts in line with relevant legislation. Enhancement is not a substitute for avoidance, protection or mitigation measures in relation to existing access.
