Proposals in areas where a licence for extraction of aggregates has been granted or formally applied for should not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- A proponent may wish to include a map of the location of the development and its relation to a licence for aggregate extraction within a proposal.
- Where a proposal is next to an aggregate licence extraction area the proponent may wish to demonstrate how the aggregate licence area will not be compromised.
- Where a proposal which takes place within a licenced aggregate extraction area it may be beneficial for a proponent to review and access the Regional Active Dredge Area (RADA). This is to ensure the activity takes place during times of non-aggregate extraction within the licence area and the aggregate extraction activity is not compromised. See the British Marine Aggregate Producers Association for the RADA charts.
- A proponent may wish to refer to The Crown Estate before submitting a proposal to determine the location of aggregate extraction leased or application areas.
